Community Care
The St John Community Care Program enlists the help of caring individuals who recognise other peoples' needs to improve their quality of life. These people may be disabled, aged or have an illness, and need extra help with the day to day functions that some of us take for granted.
This may involve one or two hours a week assisting with the shopping, outings, respite for Carers or just a bit of company.
St John recruits these people to volunteer within the community; caring people who are happy to give their time to make a difference in someone else's life.
Community Care operates in seven metropolitan areas, Burnside, Enfield, Marion, Norwood area, Northern suburbs, Western suburbs, as well as the Onkaparinga area. There are 370 Community Care volunteers across the state, who give over 20,000 hours of their time every year.
If you would like to meet new people and make a difference in your community, you can help by becoming a St John Community Care volunteer. By doing this, you will not only be helping others, but you will also develop new skills that will help you build confidence and self esteem.
The Community Care Program has made a big difference in the community. It has enriched the lives of those who need some extra help, while providing our volunteers with a sense of satisfaction that they have provided a valuable service to the community.
