Join our team of first aid and health care professionals. Our members dedicate themselves to caring for public at events across South Australia. They are highly skilled and trained to deal with any medical emergency, from applying a bandage to performing CPR.
You’ll see our people at Clipsal 500, Adelaide Showgrounds, Adelaide Oval, the Entertainment Centre and local sporting and community events (to name just a few), providing a first aid response and pre-hospital care to the public. So if you love the action, the buzz and the crowds, you’ll have the time of your life with St John!
As a St John volunteer you will:
- Learn life-saving skills
- Become an equal and responsible member of a team
- Experience the satisfaction of helping your community
- Meet friends with similar interests
- Gain practical experience in a multi–casualty environment
- Undergo officer training
- Gain valuable experience for health-related careers
- Be eligible for nationally recognised health and frontline management qualifications
- Receive service awards
- Cadets and Juniors program
We are committed to providing the best first aid training and infrastructure to ensure volunteers are fully qualified and well equipped to care for the public, and to potentially save a life. You require no prior experience or training to join St John.
When joining St John, you'll become part of a local Division - and with more than 80 across the state there's bound to be a Division near you. St John Divisions consist of a group of volunteers that meet weekly for training, event planning and organisation. We ask you to complete accredited training and attend a minimum of one event a month.
This is no ordinary volunteer opportunity - you can make a real difference to people's lives and to your local community, and you may be called upon to act in times of disaster. As an agency participating in the State Emergency Management Plan, St John volunteers are called upon to provide first aid assistance in times of crisis like bushfires, floods and other mass-casualty disasters.
