"... The skills one can learn in first aid, leadership and emergency management can be of benefit in any job. There are many prejudicial attitudes with regards to the use of teenagers in first aid roles but we should not forget that these are often the future of our services with many cadets going on to careers in SA Police, SA Ambulance, as nurses, and in some cases careers as doctors. I myself fell into health care through an interest in helping out through St John. I never really entertained a future in health care but the passion grew and I now have multiple health qualifications have worked at a number of metropolitan hospitals and am half way to becoming a doctor. I am just one of the many similar stories of careers starting from St John, but these stories will end without more help, whether it be extra first aiders or extra cadet leaders. We need as many as we can get... It can be a lot of fun too"
