Our statement of strategic intentions – 2010
Our Purpose
We will at all times endeavor to embrace and comply with the mission, goals and strategies outlined by the national St John organisation, consistent with the “One St John” policy and for the benefit of our South Australian community.
1.1 Provide leading first aid and related health services.
1.2 Promote an understanding of the culture and values of the Order of St John and support the humanitarian work of the Order.
Our Governance
We will ensure the Board governs within a best practice environment to provide value for all stakeholders.
2.1 Review the Constitution with particular reference to appointment, composition, competencies and tenure of Board members.
2.2 Oversee policy, appoint the CEO, monitor performance and be involved in executive employment.
2.3 Promote a culture that values consistent management, cohesive policies, efficiencies and effective decisions throughout the organisation.
Our People
We will actively recognise, retain, and attract quality human resources to achieve our business requirements.
3.1 Develop an effective communication system to foster input and feedback to improve the level of satisfaction amongst our people.
3.2 Develop and assist all individuals and particularly our youth to attain further education and training.
3.3 Source the best people to reflect location, skill needs and planned outcomes.
3.4 Develop support and recognition methodologies for members.
Our Services
We will ensure the enhancement and improvement of current and future operations and services to meet the needs of the South Australian community.
4.1 Pursue organisation wide collaboration and coordination to deliver excellent outcomes. Continue to improve our service quality, with a strong focus on best practice.
4.2 Explore recurring emergency resourcing and service opportunities. Improve resourcing and adapt response methodologies to meet statewide needs.
4.3 Develop partnerships with relevant agencies to expand existing Community Care and identify new market opportunities.
4.4 Identify and tailor training and merchandising needs of existing and potential clients within an entrepreneurial framework.
4.5 Continuously review operating environments and services to identify, assess and treat risk impacts.
Our Communication
We will position the organisation to ensure effective engagement with all stakeholders.
5.1 Maximise brand awareness through collaborative promotion of service range and capabilities.
5.2 Enhance and monitor customer relationships to provide mutual solutions and service excellence.
5.3 Develop effective appropriately costed fund raising techniques and relationships.
5.4 Engage with other community organisations to achieve efficiencies or expansion in partnership.
5.5 Promote and implement national and international St John initiatives.
Our Capital
We will ensure a sustainable organisation to meet the current and future needs of clients.
6.1 Anticipate program resourcing through optimising current financial and asset management processes to support our charitable purpose.
6.2 Quantify and facilitate best practices for First Aid Services to ensure funding for the staged replacement of equipment and fleet requirements.
6.3 Continue to identify and develop information service requirements.
6.4 Improve critical aspects of our property portfolio in relation to economic and physical suitability.
6.5 Reduce St John’s ecological footprint through best practice capital and consumable acquisition and our consumption of energy and water.
