Our statement of aspirations and intentions – 2011
Purpose
We will at all times endeavor to embrace and comply with the mission, goals and strategies outlined by the national St John organisation, consistent with the “One St John” policy and for the benefit of our South Australian community.
1.1 Provide leading first aid and related health services.
1.2 Promote an understanding of the culture and values of the Order of St John and support the humanitarian work of the Order.
Governance
We will ensure the Board adopts current governance practice to provide value for all stakeholders.
2.1 Maintain a continuous review of the Constitution and its ramifications.
2.2 Oversee policy, monitor performance of the CEO, and be involved in executive employment.
2.3 Promote a culture that values consistent management, cohesive policies, efficiencies and effective decisions throughout the organisation.
People
We will actively recognise, retain, and attract quality people to achieve our business requirements.
3.1 Develop our communication systems to foster input and feedback to improve the level of satisfaction amongst our members.
3.2 Develop and assist all members and particularly our youth to attain further education and training.
3.3 Source the best people to reflect location, skill needs and planned outcomes.
Services
We will ensure the enhancement and improvement of current and future operations and services to meet the needs of the South Australian community.
4.1 Pursue organisation wide collaboration and coordination to improve our service quality and deliver excellent outcomes.
4.2 Explore recurring emergency resourcing and service opportunities.
4.3 Improve resourcing and adapt response methodologies to meet statewide needs.
4.4 Develop partnerships to enhance existing services and identify new market opportunities.
4.5 Identify and tailor training and product needs of existing and potential clients.
4.6 Continuously review operating environments and services to identify, assess and treat risk impacts.
Communication
We will position the organisation to ensure effective engagement with all stakeholders.
5.1 Maximise brand awareness through promotion of service range and capabilities.
5.2 Deliver excellent service to our customers.
5.3 Develop effective, appropriately costed fund raising techniques and relationships.
5.4 Engage with other community organisations to achieve efficiencies or expand partnerships.
5.5 Promote and implement national and international St John initiatives.
Capital
We will ensure a sustainable organisation to meet the current and future needs of clients.
6.1 Optimise current financial and asset management to support our charitable purpose.
6.2 Identify funding sources for the replacement of equipment and fleet.
6.3 Continue to identify and develop information management system requirements.
6.4 Ensure our property portfolio meets our current and future economic and physical requirements.
6.5 Reduce St John’s ecological footprint.
