Thanks to our Aussie everyday Heroes!

Thanks to our Aussie everyday Heroes!

24 January 2018

Last year, our volunteers helped thousands of patients with clinical treatments at nearly 2,500 events, backed by tens of thousands of training hours to maintain and improve their skills, and dedicated the equivalent of more than 1000 days to enhancing social inclusion of isolated South Australians through our Community Care program.

These figures give some appreciation of the commitment our volunteers have to making South Australian communities a better and safer place – what they don’t quite show is just how many weekends and public holidays St John members spend selflessly in the service of others.

Always there when you need us

This Australia Day and long weekend most of us will be enjoying some extra time off, while many professions – including emergency services – will keep working around the clock. This year, our Event Health Services volunteers will cover no less than 23 events across the State on Australia Day alone. From fun runs to triathlons, Australia Day breakfasts to festivals and street parties, they will be there for those who are unwell, giving their time freely to support their communities and keep people safe.

Supporting St John means supporting your community

At St John, everything we do is centered around our volunteers – the proceeds from our commercial activities fund our community programs and event health services. By booking a training course with us or buying First Aid products and services, you are in turn supporting your community. Thank you for choosing St John SA, and if you would like to further support us in our mission to build community resilience through first aid, make a donation or simply spread the word about what we do!

Whatever you get up to this Australia Day and long weekend, we hope you have a great time, stay safe and look out for one another! If you are out at one of the 23 events that St John is attending, why not give a word of thanks to our amazing guys and girls in Greens!
