Health Care Professionals and Students (18+)

Home | Volunteers | Health Care Professionals and Students (18+)

St John offers a diverse range of experiences to nurses, paramedics, doctors and allied health clinicians as well as students of these professions.  As a St John Health Care Volunteer, you'll be attending local and major events and incidents, assisting in clinical and professional development and forging lasting connections with like-minded colleagues.

For health care students, you'll gain invaluable clinical experience by working alongside qualified health care professionals, treating real casualties and dealing with real emergencies.

By volunteering with St John, you will:

  • Develop essential pre-hospital skills including triage and complex care
  • Experience unique multiple patient presentations in the pre-hospital environment during the early stages of acute illness
  • Have access to simulation training
  • Have the opportunity to undertake additional qualifications including frontline management, training and assessment, and emergency management training
  • Network and interact with other health care professionals and emergency services agencies

You may join one of St John Divisions based in the suburb or town near you.  St John Divisions consist of a group of volunteers that meet weekly for training, event planning and organisation.  Currently, there are more than 80 St John Divisions across South Australia.  Click here to find one near you.

St John Health Care Professionals have an opportunity to volunteer within our clinical practice guidelines to deliver higher level intervention to our patients.
