Every Heartbeat Matters!

On Tuesday 8th May 2018, St John SA took over the Aldgate Pump Hotel to launch over Every Heartbeat Matters campaign, which saw the first of over 300 public access defibrillators installed in regional South Australia, thanks to a grant from the Australian Hotels Association SA (AHA|SA) and Clubs SA.

The event was a huge success that attracted media attention – both Channel 7 and Channel 9 covered the event, with other news outlets in attendance as well. It was fantastic to see so much support for this lifesaving initiative. On the day we also debuted our brand new CPR Lab, which you saw a sneak peek of last week. Event participants joined in the fun and practised their CPR skills, with the ability to view real-time feedback on their compressions. We even had our very own CEO, Michael Cornish, along with SA Ambulance Service CEO, Jason Killens, and Heart Foundation SA CEO, Imelda Lynch test out their CPR skills!

It was a great day that helped spread the message about this fantastic project. We would like to say a big thank you to Josie and Tony for hosting us at the Aldgate Pump Hotel, and for their warm hospitality.

There's lots to do until June 30, when we will have installed a total of 104 AEDs (Automated External Defibrillators) - one third of the total amount funded by the AHA|SA and Clubs SA for a period of three years.
