St John Volunteers are ordinary people doing extra-ordinary things…
What makes St John Volunteers unique is that they are people who come from different backgrounds and professions yet are united in their caring, selfless dedication to helping their fellow South Australians.

Being a St John Volunteer provides people with an opportunity to enhance their existing qualifications, or to learn a variety of new skills, whilst giving back to the community a service that is truly valuable.

St John Ambulance SA Inc Volunteers provide a range of important community services via 85 divisions across South Australia.

First Aid Services at public events and during emergencies.

It’s not all about saving lives… St John Volunteers apply skills across many different areas…

Leaders and Officers
Extend your leadership skills, put your professional qualifications and expertise into practice in a different field

Communications
Be a part of St John’s presence at major public and sporting events, help to coordinate the closest First Aiders via radio, convey information ensuring that all members are in contact with each other

Logistics
There are many opportunities to volunteer ‘behind the scenes’ including, maintaining medical supplies throughout events, equipment management, Event Planning and liaising with Event Organisers and setting up First Aid Posts at Events.

What do St John Volunteers do?
St John Volunteers are an integral part of major public and sporting events, and play a vital role supporting other emergency services in times of disasters, such as bushfires and floods. St John Volunteers are always close by to deal with any emergency or illness in a calm and professional manner. 

To be a valued St John Volunteer all you need is…
Commitment and compassion, a few hours a week or a fortnight, a current First Aid Certificate [or be willing to obtain one] attend local Division Meetings, to successfully complete a police check and medical declaration and wear the St John uniform.

Community Care services to members of the community who need support with everyday activities, are suffering from illness or are feeling isolated due to a lack of mobility.

Youth programs and services including St John Ambulance Juniors and Cadets and the Youth Council as well as programs to support young people in the community.
