About the Program
First Aid in Schools
The First Aid in Schools (FAiS) program is a community initiative that St John SA provides to primary schools free of charge. FAiS fits within the South Australian Curriculum, Standards and Accountability Framework and the Australian Curriculum: Health and Physical Education Learning Area.
Delivered by dedicated trainers, sessions cover the skills students from Reception to Year 6 need to respond confidently in an emergency: how to call an ambulance, how to help an unconscious person, fundamental first aid principles, and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) for older students.
These skills are genuinely lifesaving, and our hope is that early first aid education leaves students with a lasting awareness of what to do when it matters. Students who want to take their involvement further can continue their journey through the St John SA Youth Development program.
