Our Comprehensive Workforce
Experienced people, trusted care
St John Ambulance SA has an extensive and capable staffing cohort to meet the needs of events and onsite deployments across South Australia.
Our services are customised to each event. The final team structure depends on the requirements, risk profile, size, location and operating environment.
Experienced operations management team
Our operations management team is experienced in overseeing complex operations. With background in out-of-hospital care, emergency management, risk and operations management, they support the success of deployments, while maintaining strong relationships with customers, consumers and stakeholders.
Comprehensive staffing capability
Our teams may include a range of roles depending on the event requirements.
Registered Paramedics, Nurses and Doctors
Registered Healthcare Professionals include Registered Paramedics, Registered Nurses and Medical Practitioners.
These clinicians hold current AHPRA registration and provide advanced clinical assessment, care planning, escalation support and treatment for higher acuity presentations
Ambulance Officers
Ambulance Officers are experienced pre-hospital clinicians who hold recognised ambulance or healthcare qualifications and training. They provide a higher level of assessment, clinical decision-making and patient care, particularly where events involve larger crowds, participant activity, increased risk or more complex operating environments.
Event Medics
Event Medics are trained emergency healthcare workers who provide care beyond basic first aid. They are our standard frontline clinical role at events and provide early assessment, treatment, monitoring and escalation for a broad range of common and urgent event presentations.
Event Medics carry first response equipment, including an AED, oxygen resuscitation equipment, medications, trauma supplies and equipment to monitor vital signs.
Communications and Liaison Officers
Communications and Liaison Officers coordinate Health and Medical Services within Event Operations Centres or Emergency Operations Centres, helping improve safety, communication and operational efficiency.
Operations Command and Management
Our operations leaders are experienced in event operations and emergency management. For large events, they can work closely with other emergency services, event control and key stakeholders.
Ongoing training
Our staff receive continuous professional education beyond certification. This supports high-quality, customer-focused care and ongoing development across our workforce.
