Software update required for connected LIFEPAK CR2 defibrillators
Stryker has notified us of a routine software update affecting some connected LIFEPAK CR2 defibrillators. If your device has been flagged, a simple update is needed before 31 December 2026. The process is straightforward and your St John SA representative can help if you need support.
Your defibrillator's emergency functions are not affected. This update relates only to connection security between the device and LIFELINKcentral AED Program Manager. The device's ability to deliver therapy in an emergency remains completely unchanged.
What do I need to do?
-
1Authorise the update in LIFELINKcentral
Log in to LIFELINKcentral, select Sites, choose your site and open Software and Setup Options. Select the profile marked Update Available, then choose Authorise Software Update and confirm. You may have already received an email from LIFELINKcentral with a direct link to this screen.
-
2Allow the update to install
Once authorised, the update will install at the device's next automatic check-in, which occurs roughly once a month. To install it sooner, follow the instructions in Stryker's update notice (download below). Allow approximately 30 minutes per device. Some older software versions may require more than one update to reach version 1.14.
-
3Confirm the update is complete
Return to Software and Setup Options in LIFELINKcentral and check that the site's software status shows Current.
During the update: do not use or turn off the AED while it is updating unless it is needed for an emergency. Authorising an update applies to all LIFEPAK CR2 devices assigned to the selected site.
Why is this update needed?
Stryker is retiring older connection security protocols used by LIFELINKcentral. Devices running software earlier than version 1.14 will no longer be able to connect to LIFELINKcentral or receive future software updates after 31 December 2026.
