What is the Clinic Car Program?

For so many, access to reliable and affordable transportation is a significant challenge that makes getting to and from appointments a stressful experience. Our Clinic Car Service aims to fill that void by providing a door to door service to people who are unable to use public transport or their own means of transportation. The service can be used to support individuals to attend medical appointments or return home after a hospital stay by booking our service at least 24 hours before. 

Our service also extends to our passenger's carer or companion at no additional charge, so you can travel knowing you have the help you need. So that you have a safe journey, our dedicated drivers are trained in basic life support and our vehicles are equipped with emergency response equipment including an AED, Oxygen, and a fire extinguisher. 

For Healthcare Providers, Wards & Emergency Departments 

The St John Clinic Car offers a priority same day discharge transport service for patients requiring transport home from a healthcare provider, hospital ward or emergency department.

Bookings 

Our Services require advanced bookings, unlike taking a taxi or Uber. Our Bookings and Scheduling Team are available via phone or email between 7:30am - 5:00pm, Monday to Friday.

Our operational hours are 8:00am to 6:00pm (Last pick-up at 5:00pm). Monday to Friday, with limited availability outside of these hours. Speak to our friendly booking and scheduling team if you have any requirements outside of these hours. 

Due to the popularity of the Clinic Car Program, we ask for at least three business days in advance to secure availability, however, we can accommodate next day requests. 

Eligibility for the Clinic Car Program 

Clinical Parameters 

• • Does not require active monitoring or treatment (e.g. cardiac monitoring or oxygen) 

  • Are able to self-transfer in and out of passenger vehicle and are ambulatory up to 10 steps 

  • Limited cognitive impairment 

  • Suitable for the elderly and patients that have mild disabilities or injuries 

  • Patients can bring a carer or escort 

  • Patients can bring a collapsible walker or collapsible wheelchair 

  • Can carry small bag of luggage
