With over 135 years’ first aid experience in South Australia, St John Ambulance SA delivers a broad range of first aid and related training courses. 

We deliver nationally recognised training in partnership with St John Ambulance Australia Limited (RTO 88041), as well as internally, and otherwise accredited and non-accredited training.

Public On-site

The flagship St John Ambulance first aid course covers a comprehensive range of topics to enable participants to confidently manage emergency situations and provide a first aid response to a casualty. It covers the most common first aid injuries and illnesses.
It is suitable for both people in the workplace and members of the public who want training in first aid.

Nationally Recognised Training

The St John Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) course gives you the skills to perform CPR on a person who is unconscious and not breathing normally in line with the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) guidelines. You will require the knowledge and confidence to perform CPR on an adult, child and infant, to describe alternative methods for delivering rescue breaths and how to manage a victim of drowning.

Nationally Recognised Training

This course will provide you with the skills to manage emergency first aid situations, including managing the unconscious casualty, performing CPR, controlling bleeding, and managing other life-threatening and non-life-threatening situations. It is suitable for people in workplaces and members of the public who want to be able to manage an emergency first aid situation.

The 2-day Mental Health First Aid course teaches adults (18 years and over) how to provide initial support to adults who are developing a mental health problem or experiencing a mental health issue or crisis until appropriate professional help is received or the crisis resolves using a practical, evidence-based Action Plan.

This course is based on guidelines developed through the expert consensus of people with lived experience of mental health problems and professionals

The St John Community Care Program provides support and companionship to the elderly and those at risk of social isolation in the community by matching clients to volunteers based on shared interests and goals. All services are tailored to suit the needs and goals of each individual client.

FIRST AID IN SCHOOLS

The First Aid in Schools program teaches South Australian primary school children the lifesaving skills of first aid free of charge. We can arrange for a qualified St John Trainer to come to your school and teach students a range of vital first aid skills, tailored to suit each year level.

Youth Development

Our Youth Development program allows youth aged 11 to 17 to develop a range of first aid and life skills while earning proficiency badges, getting involved in competitions and camps, practising first aid skills under supervision at public events, making great friends and having fun!

St John Band

For all the musicians out there, St John also offers the opportunity to receive tuition in a variety of brass instruments, as well as first aid training. Performing at prominent St John and public events, the St John Band is a fantastic volunteer opportunity for the musically-inclined!
